Spine TB ( Not recovering with medical treatment)

Spine TB with severe spinal cord compression may cause permanent paralysis of legs and loss of control in passing urine and stool.

Obstruction in flow of spinal fluid(csf) because of spine tb seen on mri (myelogram).

TB medicines remain the essential treatment to cure it, but leaving it on fate that the pus will shrink with time & the patient will be fine, may not happen in each case.

In such cases of SPINE TB, if SPINE SURGERY is delayed it may cause permanent damage to the spinal cord before the medicines control/shrink the pus leading to paralysis of legs (complete/partial).

It is essential to immediately release the pus pressing on the spinal cord by surgery.

What say our patient about care

The muscles in his forearms were wasted and his shoulders were protracted. There were no signs of bone abnormality, nerve or significant soft a tissue injury. He had good movement, but his strength was reduced on both sides on grip and wrist strength in particular. His shoulder were also slightly weak in the rotator cuff. He had pain on palpation of his forearms generally, particularly pronator teres.

The doctor of the future will give no medicine but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.
